Why I Founded This Site
Let's set aside my rather typical college wine drinking experience around the turn of the millennium. Fast forward a decade and around 2013 my wife bought me the premium tier gift subscription to The Wall Street Journal Wine Club. As she loves to remind me, that ended up being a cumulatively expensive gift over a decade later now. Though I am no longer an active subscriber, getting a case of wine (12 bottles) every few months was a great way to get bitten by the wine bug since I could try red, white and rosé wines from around the world. Until then, I hadn't been exposed to nicer quality wines with a more diverse set of varietals than typical grocery store wines in the early 2000s. My first non-winery wine club subscription helped me start to develop a palate for wine. Fast forward to 2024 and I decided to start this blog to help me share articles, firsthand knowledge, social media and retail resources to expose curious wine drinkers to interesting, delicious wines.
